Learning science is not always easy for children. Often if it seems difficult, children will lose interest. Science is an essential area that will stay with children throughout their education, so it is important that they don’t lose interest while they are young. There are number of things one can do to get their kids interested in science.

1. Children love to spend time outdoors, so one way of getting them interested in science is taking them on a nature walk in a park. You can point pout the various animals, bugs, flowers, and plants. The kids will have fun learning all about nature. They will not even realize they are learning.

2. There are a number of children’s science kits available online and in toy stores. There are microscope kits, volcano making kits, butterfly kits, ant farms, and much more. Kids love these kits and will spend hours using them. There are even kid’s telescopes for looking at the moon and stars. As well, outdoor play can include finding and identifying insects, frogs, and different tree leaves.

3. There are number community organizations that focus on kids. This includes the 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. These organizations provide many activities that involve science. They also help children socialize.

4. There are many at home kids’ activities that involve science. This can include making and flying kites, building go-carts, building a robot, and much more. There are even kid’s rockets that children can put together and launch.

5. There are even activities in the kitchen such as cooking that involves science. Get your kids to help you cook. Let them measure ingredients and have discussions about how meals are made and cooked.

6. Encourage your children to ask questions when engaging in science activities. Help them find the answers through books and kids science videos. Allow children to take things apart to learn how they work.

7. Take your children to a science museum. There they will find a whole range of science subjects. Some displays are even interactive so your child can participate in a fun learning experience.

8. Take your children to such places as zoos, aquariums, science centers, and planetariums…etc. It is great and fun way to get children interested in science.

9. There are kids science learning channels such as the discovery channel that will provide science shows that cater to children. There are also children science activity books available. As well, one can purchase a wide assortment of science videos that are made for children. They are educational and entertaining.

One of the productive things you can do to get your kids interested in science is participate in the activities with them. This will show the kids that you too find it interesting and fun. It is always important to make the experience positive. You do not want the experience to seem like a classroom. By actively encourage your child to engage in fun activities that are connected to science, your child will gain a life long love of the subject.

by Riche Goldmann

Many people are growing more and more energy conscious and there are many reasons for this. For some, there is a sincere need and desire to cut and reduce costs associated with energy expenditures. A home generator can help greatly in this regard since a home generator can provide a viable source of energy. Then, there are more serious and ominous concerns. Namely, a home generator has the ability to provide a home with electricity in the case of a power outage. That is why it is critical to select the right home generator for your house and here are a few points to consider when making such a purchase.

The first important step that you must take is to decide what basic kind of generator you are going to need. They now come in two basic types: stationary and portable. You should have guessed that the stationary one means that you cannot move it and is better used as a backup energy source; portable generators are better suited for situations where a person will use it more on a regular and frequent basis both in and outside of the house. Either way, it is important to really think about this before pulling out any cash; a generator is a major purchase that should be made carefully.

After you determine your basic needs, you need to determine the specs that you will need in a generator, primarily the volume of voltage and watts you need your generator to have. You do not want to purchase a generator that cannot service your energy needs, but you also do not want to purchase one that does more than you need it to do because it is going to cost you. The best thing to do is to determine what items you are going to run on the generator, or if you are going to run your whole house, you can look at an energy bill and determine how much you use. You can also add up the watts and voltage of everything in your house that is currently plugged in or running on your energy. Then purchase a generator that has enough power to provide the service that you need.

You should also consider the kind of fuel that your generator is going to run off of. The majority of home generators are going to run on propane or natural gas. However, there are generators that exist that run off of diesel fuel, though they are largely used for more industrial purposes. Whatever the case may be for you, pick one that best suits the needs of your particular house. You may need a bigger generator if you live in a mansion.

One should also never overlook the benefits of any safety features that may be present. A generator that shuts itself off in the advent of overheating would be an example of a desirable safety feature. Again, safety is important and it should never be overlooked. Of course, there are many other criteria you can employ prior to purchasing a generator. The key here is to select the right generator for your needs.

The united states military knows that it’s branches must revamp their thinking about how to engage in “the theater of war” in the new, post-Cold War world of the 21st century. One thing that the military leaders stress is the desire for the forces deployed in the theater to be able to be more energy-independent. Currently the united states military has policies and procedures in place to interact with allies or sympathetic local populaces to help it is forces in the field get their needed energy and clean water when engaged in a foreign military campaign. However, this is not wholly reliable, as the US might well find itself facing unilateral military activities, or have itself in a situation where it’s allies cannot help it with the resources it needs to conduct its military actions successfully.

The united states military is very interested in certain alternative energies that, with the right research and development technologically, can make it energy independent, or at least a great deal more so, on the battlefield. One important thing that greatly interests the military along these lines is the development of small nuclear reactors, which could be portable, for producing theater-local electricity. The military is impressed with how clean-burning nuclear reactors are and how energy efficient they’re. Making them portable for the typical warfare of today’s highly mobile, small-scaled military operations is something they’re researching. One of the most prominent thing that the US military thinks these small nuclear reactors would be helpful for involves the removal of hydrogen (for fuel cell) from seawater. It also thinks that converting seawater to hydrogen fuel in this way would have less negative impact on the environment than its current practices of remaining supplied out in the field.

Seawater is, in fact, the military’s highest interest when it comes to the matter of alternative energy supply. Seawater can be endlessly “mined” for hydrogen, which in turn powers advanced fuel cells. Using OTEC, seawater can also be endlessly converted into desalinated, potable water. Potable water and hydrogen for power are two of the things that a near-future deployed military force will need most of all.

In the cores of nuclear reactors-which as stated above are devices highly interesting, in portable form, to the US military-we encounter temperatures greater than 1000 degrees Celsius. If this level of temperature is mixed with a thermo-chemical water-splitting procedure, we have on our hands the most efficient means of breaking down water into its component parts, that are molecular hydrogen and oxygen.

The minerals and salts that are contained in seawater would need to be extracted via a desalination process in order to make the way clear for the water-splitting process. These could then be utilized, such as in vitamins or in salt shakers, or simply sent back to the ocean (recycling). Using the power of nuclear reactors to extract this hydrogen from the sea, in order to then input that into fuel cells to power advanced airplanes, tanks, ground vehicles, and the like, is clearly high on the R & D priority list of the military.

Where do you look for your daily environmental news? How do you acquire the all-inclusive news from all around the world? Often people would hang on to one source of information. However, in order to get best information that covers all sorts of areas, it is best that you check out several different new options available. Here are some of the best channels where you can get your news from.

## Typical News Web Pages

This is where readers commonly get their news and info. Environmentalists may find this rather unattractive however you can know what’s happening in the world from the highlights. Most reliable news websites offer a segment on environmental news. The reason some of the people tend to pay no attention to this type of news source is because these large news store are usually owned and handled by huge corporations with agendas that may or may not have anything to do with environment. However, they can still be helpful source of information.

## Dedicated News Web Pages

These would be smaller sites and organizations that either publish general news with a percentage of green comment, or are dedicated to *only* green news. The key to understanding these sources is that they are independent from the large corporations, publishing news as they see it. Still, they do have a market to reach and while they are smaller and have more editorial freedom, they still need to serve their market. With an understanding of the values and biases of these types of news sources, they can be a very solid source of environmental news.

## Exclusive Blog Portals

These kinds of websites are commonly created by individuals or small companies and signify the most independent editorial comment nowadays. Everybody can post any entries at all as well as share their viewpoints for others around the globe to read. The more famous blogs can possibly be owned by small standalone organizations so, like usual, it is wise to take note of the author’s or company’s objectives.

Having all of these three news options in mind, you’ll have an idea of the type of news that is crucial to you. You might stumble across one news item with 3 dissimilar interpretations and comments. This is a good thing, as you will be able to think and come up with your own opinion. Understanding the source is very important as each news source has its own side of story.

Making a green move can be a challenging task! Driving eco friendly vehicles, dealing with green companies and simply living green – GreenerIdeal website will become a No1. source of information for a true environmentalist.

It’s difficult to change how we think. It’s much easier to go on our lives the easy way, not challenging our thoughts and actions. Real awareness challenges our personal, private thoughts and asks us to look at another way of thinking. It opens our mind to new ideas that can sometimes be difficult to get a grasp of.

There are many different awarenesses that come to us in our lives. Some of them are private, personal and are more about how we think about ourselves. Others are about things that are beyond ourselves, our front yards or even our nations. Let’s put on the hat of environmentalist even just as we seek to find sources of news that are beyond what most people ingest. Environmental news can help us begin the process of awareness of issues that face our locales and our Earth. Most of these news items and information will not be presented by standard news publishers so we will have to go out and find sources that we can trust and enjoy.

Why Environmental News?

If we hope to be solution finders in our lives, to have a positive impact on those around us and on the planet, we can start by adjusting how we think and challenge our current thoughts by taking in green news. If our thoughts begin to change, our behaviour will, at some point, follow and our way of life will be altered in a positive way. This type of change cannot be forced on us but by starting with our own minds, we can create long lasting benefit to ourselves and our environment.

News networks are designed to make money. This is why they choose which topics are worthy of headlines and/or time. They must attract viewers to give their advertisers a solid market. This is the purpose of what they do and it controls the news which is printed or broadcast. If we want to find out more about our environment, read environmental news that is meaningful and important, we likely will not find that in these normal news outlets.

Where to Find It

If you want to be in touch with local or global issues that relate to green news, then you will need to find a source of information that has their own stated bias-the environment. It’s simply their own focus. These news publishers are making up for the lack of information that comes from the big news agencies. They are presenting news that is important for their readers or listeners.

There are a huge assortment of news sources available to be read on the Internet. Start with the list at http://environment.about.com/od/activismvolunteering/tp/environews.htm and it will lead you to a handful of sources that will provide interesting and meaningful information for you.

Do you like to keep yourself updated with all the green news happening around the world? Greenerideal.com is the best resource for tips on green lifestyle – from building green to green business to eco friendly cars. You will find it all on GreenerIdeal.com!

Are you locked in the system? Tired of the rat race – struggling to pay the bills and just breaking even? If so, you’re not alone. There are many others who feel called to a simpler lifestyle, living off the land or even cutting free from the system by living off the grid. It might seem like an impossible dream, but it really is possible to live more in harmony with nature, have more family time and experience the joys of self sufficient living. If that appeals to you, keep reading to learn how a better way of life can be yours.

Learning to live in a more sustainable way is a process that takes time. For us, it started in 2000 when we moved to the mountains, living in a tiny cabin and starting our very first garden, which ultimately was destroyed by open range cows. While the learning curve has been tough, we wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

While there are key steps to take and mistakes to avoid in achieving the goal of a self sufficient way of life, with a little knowledge, anybody can enjoy the benefits of sustainable living. Our own experience certainly proved that, but we’ve also seen it time and time again in helping others to make the transition to self sufficient living as well. It might be helpful, however, to begin by reviewing the most common pitfalls that seem to keep many people from ever taking the first step.

Perhaps the most common mistake which keeps people from realizing their dream for self sufficient living is in trying to tackle the whole thing all at once. In all too many cases, this causes people to get overwhelmed and even discouraged and eventually they simply give up. The real secret of success for those who have managed to transition from a typical lifestyle to a more sustainable one, involves taking small steps, and adding new facets of a self sufficient way of life little by little – keeping things affordable and manageable all along the way. For example, many people don’t develop alternative energy systems, either because the task seems too big, or they can’t afford a system that would supply their needs. However, rather than trying to completely get off the grid all at once, why not start a smaller system that you can add to over time, until you develop a sufficient output to eventually cut free of the power grid. This can be done with proper selection of equipment that will allow you to add on and grow bigger as you have the funds to do so.

Ultimately, self sufficient living becomes a reality to those who plan and persist in moving toward the goal, one step at a time. But the very first step is to educate yourself. You need solid information to help you formulate your plan and carry it out successfully. Whether it’s alternative energy, growing and storing food, or other facets of sustainable living, knowledge is where it starts. Armed with the right information, you can enjoy the benefits of self sufficient living. Why not get started right now? Head on over to http://www.selfsufficientlivingblog.com where you’ll find free articles and links to helpful resources to make your dream a reality.

The amount of money that wind power can save you depends on many factors. It can be significantly a large amount of money for you if you have a good sized system and what the system is for. Many of the factors that determine the amount of money you can save includes the amount of wind you have, the type of system, the amount of energy you use, and much more.

Wind energy is an excellent form of alternative electricity for people who need to find a way to lower their electricity bills. This form of energy relies entirely on the wind and the energy that is created can be stored in generators and ready for use when it is needed. It is common for the amount of electricity that is provided through a wind powered generator to be approximately 20% of what it normally is.

Of course, the more wind you have in the area in which you live the better. If you experience many windy days you know that your generator will be full or gaining electricity much of the time. On the other hand, if you do not experience that much wind then there will not be that much stored in the generator.

DIY Wind Power Generator

You need to remember that not all wind is useful, however. Your system can store energy only from strong gusts of wind. Little breezes will not provide much energy at all.

Depending on the type of system that you have installed you can expect a very beneficial supplement to your electricity needs. If the system is for your home you will be pleased with the savings on your monthly bill as well as the amount of energy the system will produce.

Some people choose to have a solar system as well as a wind powered system and, because they produce an abundance of electricity, they are usually pleasantly surprised when they are credited on their electricity bill. The electricity company will credit you or even give you cash back if you have more energy than what you have used through their services. Your bill can decrease by between twenty and seventy-five percent if you have both a solar system and a wind powered system.

Kinetic watches make use of wind powered systems although the saving is negligible because the energy requirement is minimal. Although you will save money because you do not need to purchase batteries it will not amount to more than a few dollars at the most. Of course, you do have the added benefit of knowing that you are not damaging the environment at all because you are not having to dispose of batteries.

The amount of energy you use is a big factor when you have a wind powered system and want to save a lot of money. If you run big appliances on a constant basis then the savings may not be very big. If you are very energy conscious and you pay attention to the appliances that you have in your home that consume energy then you can save more money. The goal for most homeowners is to use wind power entirely rather than pay an electricity bill at all.

Electric producing wind turbines, from the Netherlands, are a provocative creation of clean and renewable energy for any homeowner. The Netherlands has for centuries counted on wind power, for centuries using the advancements of their windmills to provide efficiency and improved productivity on farms and manufacturing facilities.

Now, in the modern age of conservationism, wind turbines are a powerful source of power for just about any homeowner or business owner. The most obvious incentive for someone to think about a turbine, such as the Energy Ball v200, is to reduce their dependence on traditional power companies that provide electricity to their home or business. While one wind turbine can make up to 2,500 watts of electricity at any given time, this isn’t enough to run a house, but it will minimize the need for an outside source of electricity.

Many power companies have sliding scales to figure out how much a consumer will pay for the electricity consumed. When someone consumes more, the elevated rates of the electricity. Watching less television is one way to conserve electricity and help manage monthly bills, but this is only going to go so far. At some point, we reach the tipping point where the only left to cut would be the items we need, such as lights in the room we’re working in.

The ideal follow up then would be to create your own source of power in your home or office. The Energy Ball v200, for example, is a great solution for this notion. The more smooth and artistically designed, the turbine, the more energy it can produce with less noise. This supplement your power intake which will then require less from the power companies. over the long-term, the savings can really add up to hundreds, even thousands of dollars every year.

Conserving income is certainly one enticement many people look for when thinking about purchasing an item, but they often fail to consider the long-term benefits of that savings, especially when the up front costs seem high. Government programs can pick up here where other programs leave off.

A unit like the Energy Ball v200 may cost around $20,000 to set up, but in New York State alone, varying by county, the tax incentives and subsidies the utility offers can could potentially cover up to 80% or more of the cost, meaning that you may actually only spend $2,000 – $4,000 on the unit in the end. If you think about the money you’ll save during the first few years alone and the unit easily pays for itself, incentives or tax breaks or not.

Of course, money isn’t the only thing to gain by getting a large portion of your energy from a renewable source. By using wind power, which is also replenishing, it produces no emissions, and doesn’t rely on limited fossil fuels or nuclear power to make. You can help the environment by minimizing what is known as your carbon footprint while you keep money in your pocket with wind power.

Solar swimming pool heating makes Makes good economic sense and helps the environment. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who heat a swimming pool would be foolish not to look into solar pool heaters.

Since most people closer pools for the winter solar pool heating systems don’t need to be designed to operate in freezing weather. This makes them simpler and less expensive to construct. Depending on where you live, the payback time can be less than a year, meaning that the money you’ll save compared to using gas or electricity to heat your pool will pay for the solar heater within a year.

The concept behind a solar swimming pool heater is simple: circulate the pool water through a long hose exposed to the sun and the sun will warm it.

All swimming pools already have a circulating water pump and the filter to keep the water moving and cleaning. Heated swimming pools have a heater installed as part of the circuit. With the solar system that heater is the sun rather than gas or electricity.

Since the pumps and filters are required anyway there is little additional cost to using a solar system. In fact the solar panels are often cheaper than a gas or electric pool heater.

The principle of most solar pool heaters is simple. You’ve seen it demonstrated if you’ve left the garden hose full of water laying on the lawn on a sunny day. When you next turn on the hose, warm water will come out. That water was heated by the sun.

A do-it-yourselfer could make a workable solar pool heater simply by coiling a long length of black plastic piping, placing it in a sunny spot and connecting it to the pool system. if you enjoy do-it-yourself projects, you could do it that way. Most pool owners use a commercially produced package.

Most people opt for ready-made systems because they tend to look neater and don’t cost that much more than just buying the materials to make one yourself.

Using a solar swimming pool heating system is a win-win situation. you be able to enjoy your pool even more while saving money and helping the environment. You can keep your pool along with a clear conscience.

Ground source heating systems transfer heat back and forth from the earth with pumps in order to maintain a typical, enjoyable interior temperature. The earth maintains a constant temperature, regardless of the time of year, and that power can be transported into a proper cooling and heating source. These kinds of systems are cost efficient methods to supply heating and hot water sources to commercial and residential properties.

Ground source heating systems are energy as well as cost efficient ways to supply hot water, cooling and heating to residential and commercial properties. Ground source heating systems use geothermal heat pumps to transport heat to and from the ground towards the centralized heating system. The earth in the united kingdom retains a temperature between 12 degrees C to 16 degrees C, and that heat can very easily be transformed into a comfortable living or working atmosphere if you use a ground source heat system. Because these types of systems rely much more on the dependable power of the planet and not as much on oil and gas, their customers find themselves saving substantial amounts on their energy bills.

Advantages for Residential Customer

Ground source heating systems provide a lot of monetary benefits to customers while at the same time providing them with a reliable heating and cooling source. After installing one of these heating systems, you will immediately feel alleviation in your household energy expenses. Customers who switched from utilizing oil and/or gas as their primary source of heating have saved around 70% on their monthly power costs. As for the initial investment of installing a ground source heating system, grants provided by the government are obtainable through the Clear Skies Plan. These systems depend on geothermal energy, which is clean and safe; odourless, withour a flame and quiet. Customers won’t have to work to perform maintenance on their heating systems, and most offer a great warranty deal. Even when your home has already been equipped with under-floor or radiator heating devices, your current system can be modified to work seamlessly with a ground source system. The ideal way to beat rising energy costs is to harvest the planet’s power to cool and heat your house and hot water.

Benefits for Commercial Customers

Ground source heating systems provide commercial customers with a number of tax and financial advantages, while providing their place of business with an effective heating and cooling system. Usually, your company can get tax credit for installing ground source heating systems through the Enhanced Capital Allowances plan. In addition, these heating systems generally exceed the government’s 10 % renewable energy plan (Merton Rule). Installing this particular technology into your place of work will be cost efficient as well, as the British Gas consortium makes money available as grants from the DTI Low Carbon Building Programme. Ground source heating systems are extremely efficient and have been proven to reduce utility bills for business customers, while maintaining impeccable maintenance records.
